This is a comparison between 1.7.10 and the newest snapshot, 14w29b and it's new "super fast" This world is not pregenerated, render distance on the server set to 148. The holes in the world is due to voxy not catching up ... sucky multi threaded procedural loading, sometimes loads random chunks just to unload them.
